Ceramic is a very hard material, and you need special tools to grind it properly. A ceramic grinder uses a metal (aluminum oxide or similar) grinding wheel.This is a wheel that has sharp metal flakes of aluminum oxide glued to the surface much like sandpaper.
Fluorine is present in ceramic raw materials in the range of 0.01 to 0.2 percent. As the temperature of green ceramic bodies reaches 500° to 600°C (930° to 1110°F), the fluorine in the raw material forms hydrogen fluoride (HF) and other fluorine compounds such as silicon tetrafluoride.
Machining Tolerances. Grinding General tolerances of ±.02mm, can achieve ±.01mm with a surface finish of N2/N3. Turning general tolerance of ± .03mm, can achieve ±.01mm with a surface finish of N4/N5. Milling general tolerance of ±.03, can achieve ±.01 with a surface finish of N4/N5.
